    A shame. Looks like a cool species. I hope articles like this help raise awareness to save the species.

    Luckily, a few US institutions keep and are breeding the species, Bronx (with a juvenile in their reptile nursery) and NAIB. I’m not 100% positive NAIB has bred them but it’s more than likely given their record with other Australian turtles. I believe I’ve seen the species elsewhere, too, so this could be the hopeful start of a breeding program.
