    I was going to guess Vesty Pakos Zoo in Bolivia (if "hold" was changed to "held")...

    Following the success of Chlidonias making the Chester Zoo Game alive, I want to make this thread alive again, and see if it would success.(Since I don't know anything about Chester and I want to guess:p)

    Here's my question:White and bite, no other zoo have this sight.

    hmm, it's something white and bitey, and found at only one zoo.

    Great white shark at Monterey Bay Aquarium comes to mind, but they don't have any currently.

    Oh, actually, is it the Calgary Zoo, given that there was a random post earlier today about their "spirit bear"?

    EDIT: the BC Wildlife Park actually, not the Calgary Zoo.

    Yes it is BC wildlife park in Canada.Their kermode bear is the only one in captivity.

    yes, jayjds2 gets that correct (and savethelephant provided the reasoning behind the clue). I figured capitalising Big might make it a little too easy, but that's okay.

    It is well-known that, back in 1850, London Zoo was the first zoo in the UK to exhibit a common hippopotamus.

    What was the second zoo in the UK, after London, to display a common hippopotamus?

    my first instinct would be Edinburgh, just because it is also an old zoo. But it is probably something completely different.

    No. The zoo received the hippopotamus decades before Edinburgh Zoo opened. And I don’t think that Edinburgh Zoo ever had a common hippo.

    oh interesting. I just googled when Edinburgh opened (1913) to get a time frame. I'm not sure I'm familiar enough with elderly zoos to know the possibilities. The Edinburgh opening date is the only googling I'll be doing for dates, so these following guesses may be decades away from being apt answers:

    Glasgow - I think that was another old zoo, although perhaps not that old.

    The most famous Glasgow Zoo didn't open until 1947 although there were several much earlier zoos in Glasgow, However, none of these early Glasgow zoos are the answer to this question.

    The first hippopotamus at Belle Vue (Manchester) arrived in 1876 but this is NOT the answer.
