New species in Helsinki Zoo, lovely creatures and living in our Africasia-department.

    Gundi (Ctenodactylus gundi) Korkeasaari

Thanks for the update. We don't get many from Finland on here. Keep them coming!

Are the Gundi in the African Desert area of the Africasia building? Did they replace another species or are they in a new exhibit?

    Long time no see!

Totally new enclosure of Gundi is between Asian and African department, just before Dwarf Mongooses and Short-Eared Elephant Shrew in Africasia.

    Thanks for replying!

I remember where that area is, I visted the zoo almost exactly a year ago. I was really impressed by the African section, it had a very diverse mix of species (reptiles, birds, small mammals), many of which I hadn't seen before. The Asian part wasn't anywhere near as good.

Have there been any other changes/developments to the zoo?
