Not surprised considering TripAdvisor reviews use terns like "rubbish" and "overpriced" and "worst zoo in Australia".
I visited the Venom Zoo on my first visit to Kuranda in 2016 and when I visited again this year I was disappointed to find it closed. It's an extremely cool and quirky collection, but it is very expensive for it's size. Compared to photographs of the zoo from a few years before my visit in 2016 however it did appear to have been going downhill, just looking tired and uncared for. I believe the facility had a significant venom farming operation for the production of antivenoms. Does anyone know if this part is still operational and it is just the visitor portion that has closed or if the whole thing has shut down?
