Tierpark Hagenbeck started keeping Chinese crocodile lizards 2017 and already in the first year the species was bred. 2018 the complete enclosure was redecorated and suplied with a waterfall with running water and a climate-instalation. That this was the right decision becomes clear when we know that the species was bred succesful already for the 8th time with the latest young born earlier this year. Some of the Hamburg-bred animals have recently send to Antwerp Zoo to bring-in some new blood into the group kept at that zoo .

When I visited the park in 2022 most birds were off-show, and both the bird house and the eismeer bird enclosures were closed, because of the bird flu. I'm planning on visiting again next week, and want to make sure the bird house and eismeer is 100% open, has anyone here been visiting recently and know the situation?

A Polar bear cub was born December 19: Tierpark Hagenbeck Victoria (born 2002) was Hagenbeck’s last Polar bear cub and is a first time mother.
The flying foxes in Hamburg are hybrids Pteropus vampyrus x Pteropus medius I didn't have much trouble finding them in 2022.
On the 18th of May a male bactrian camel was born. A Red-crowned crane (Grus japonensis) hatched in May. Last week 8 Mandarin ducks (Aix galericulata) hatched. Around a week ago a female Rocky Mountain wapiti (Cervus canadensis nelsoni) was born. Recently a Eastern shingleback (Tiliqua rugosa asper) was born, not only is this a zoo first breeding for Hagenbeck but also a zoo first breeding in a German Zoo. According to the zoo this is even the second time that this species has bred in Europe. Recently 2-year old female bactrian camel Stella passed away.
