a visitor has posted photos of a baby pudu from yesterday looks like this one might be more accessible than the last
I hope you manage to see them; seem to prefer coming after 3:30 for some reason. Looks like the Pudu baby is tucked up in the house now, with dad guarding it like the last one. Today i noticed the third Oncilla had access to the main enclosure and was being contiually followed and mounted by the male; the other female seemed more interested in sunbathing. Also, the Ring Tailed and Collared Lemurs nearest the entrance have swapped over. I was thinking this is good if the Ring Tails have more babies as it would be easier to get photos of them in there. But saying that, they might find it easier to slip out of there.
Had an enjoyable visit yesterday. Finally saw the grison (had to wait until around 4:30pm to finally see the pair), but a no-show from the possum.Things of note that I haven't seen posted or are updates: 1. The baby pudu was very visible, was right up against the fence opposite the brush turkeys/potoroos, most visitors didn't even see him/her. 2. Saw three Javan binturongs in the old binturong house. The keeper suggested they'd not long gone on show but can't confirm. Does anyone know how long they've been on show? 3. Two tayra were born in Feb, and were very active yesterday. Dad (I'm guessing) was separated from them, and saw another Tayra in the new housing behind the possum. 4. The potoroos that arrived recently into the park are a new blood line into Europe. More potoroos are now sharing the sloth enclosure. 5. One pair of the Australian brush turkeys is already building a big nest, fingers crossed for chicks. 6. The keeper mentioned that they are getting 4 x Gila monsters soon. 7. There development work going on near the old crane enclosures, with lots of containers in place, does anyone know what's being built there? (have put a photo in the gallery) 8. Collared lemur was born in March. 9. Brown wood owl chick was born in April and is being hand reared. 10. Saw a photo of the rusty kitten, is doing well so far and looks very cute!
I got one, will add it to the gallery now. They seemed very small. I wasn't sure if they were still young or a lot smaller subspecies.
Excellent at some point I intend to go back to my Small Carnivore Taxonomy thread and retrospectively add subspecies where possible, so that photo will come in handy!
Is that the house next to the entrance/exit? I saw the old ones in there in the last couple of weeks, so a very recent move.
Yes right by the entrance. We didn't even go in there to start until the keeper told us about them. They didn't have access to the outside enclosure, so perhaps they had only been in there a day or two.
Cool. I'll have to remember to look next time. I was told back in Jan/Feb that the pair had a couple of youngsters, but they were still off show at the back of the Swamp Wallaby enclosure.
