It has changed, in the book the illustration of Gorilla barengei graueri is on the far right, in the pre-production photo of plate 56, this illustration was on the far left.

Last night I spent an hour or so flicking through the book again. Some absolutely fantastic photographs!
One of my biggest annoyances with reference books is when a species Is misidentified. I'm certain a photograph of a GHLT is actually a GLT!
Nash has taken a few "artistic liberties" with some the illustrations (Geoffroy's Tamarin is one example I remember) and some of the primates have rather humerous expressions. I agree with you lintworm; some of the poses are bad, what on earth are the colobus monkeys doing?

And still waiting. I have nine books on their way to me and none have arrived yet. I'm getting impatient!

Three books arrived yesterday from the States, and HMW arrived today.

I spent a pleasant hour or so going through it and was surprised by the changes in the last few years - I was still under the impression there were only 3 species of tarsier, 8 bushbabies and one avahi. So I sup[pose it's good to get the latest up-to-date info.

As always, it is full of absolutely brilliant photos!

    :p

yes primate taxonomy has been motoring along in the last few years. Most of it due to DNA work ("taxonomic inflation" ;)) but more than a few to actual new discoveries of new species in the wild.

    Wow!
I've been waiting to buy these books for a long time. I was planning on waiting til Christmas, or at least my birthday in November, but I couldn't resist. The set of three arrived yesterday. I've not had time to try to enjoy them fully but they are incredibly impressive books. I look forward to immersing myself in them soon. :)

You had to fork out a bit of cash there! :)
But a very good investment and enjoyable read!

Part 4 will be released end of may! It will cover all the "sea mammals", so whales, manatees, dugongs and the seals. The plates are done by Toni Llobet again :) which is very good news. Example photos, plates and text can be found on Home | Lynx Edicions.

The prepublication offer of 125 euro for the book is valid until 15th may.

maybe they saved some money by using a crappy artist for the primate issue so could publish the next issue faster....

Ha! Sorely tempted to pick up this volume, but only because I'm sick of all the carnivore volumes I own skipping the pinnipeds :p

Having a quick browse and realised there is a problem with my copy . The Manatees section , towards the end , stop at page 560 . The next page is then 577 , the start of References . At the very end the front pages are repeated , up to page 16 .

    What a pain !!!!

Will have to contact Lynx .

Will be very interested to hear if others copies received are the same .

If they send you a new copy and don't want the defective one back, would it be cheeky to potentially put my name down for it? ;)

Their timekeeping is poor, but the books are always worth the wait.
