Hi! My name is Georgie! Some of you may know me from various different groups on Facebook (Georgie Willetts) or from Instagram (@kapturepic or @kapturepic_wilddogs). I'm hoping to study zoology with conservation at Bangor University in September and would love to work with painted wolves / African hunting dogs in the wild one day as they are a species very close to my heart. My local zoo is Dudley Zoo so the majority of my posts will be from there. I look forward to hopefully getting to know some of you and seeing more of our wonderful zoo animals.
Welcome to Zoochat! Good luck with your studies; you can definitely learn a lot about African Wild Dogs and other animals here.
Hi Georgie ! Welcome to zoochat! I think you may have a lot of opportunities to work with the African painted dog in the wild. There are quite a few NGO's across that continent working with them and one in particular apparently does take interns and volunteers and actively mentors them. You might be interested in the work and NGO of Dr Greg Rasmussen who seems to be a brilliant conservationist and quite a character. Painted Dog Research | Home I remember listening to this podcast interview with Rasmussen last year. He talks a lot about his work and struggles to conserve the species in it and you might find it interesting. Episode 108: African Painted Dogs with Dr. Greg Rasmussen - All Creatures Podcast
