Hi, can anyone possibly help me? I desperately need some info on how to raise a baby Wallaby. I now you need a pouch but thats about it. what kind of food do you need? How often do you feed? What else do you need to know?
Found this on the www. but if you google handraising wallaby much more can be found : Keeping Marsupials : Keeping and Breeding Marsupials in Captivity, Maintaining Injured and Orphaned Wildlife in Captivity, Animal Husbandry, Australian Marsupials, Australian Mammals, Marsupial Conservation Let us know if you succeeded.
Are you planning to raise a really tame exotic pet? Which species will it be? please not a Red-necked one... there are tons of them...
You need a special formula that is meant for marsupials as they cannot tolerate the lactose in milk-based formulas. How old is the baby? Was it thrown for the mother's pouch or pulled to handrear? What species and what sex is it? At what temperature and humidity is it being kept? Will you be the only caretaker? Marsupials are routinely handreared by humans but it takes a lot of work. They also need a special teat that is specific to marsupials and their mouth structure. I've raised a few over the years and it is labor-intensive.
