Post your favourite photo of an animal staring directly at the camera.

    The rules are:

    1. The photo must be your own
    2. The photo must have been taken at a zoo
    3. The photo must have an animal (or animals) staring directly at the camera

Please state the species and location of the photo.

The competition ends in 2 weeks on the 23rd of November. Good luck!

Just to get the ball rolling, here is a pic of a Southern Boobook owl (I think) from Cairns Tropical Zoo.

Oh, feel free to throw in a caption of your pic. My caption is:

    "Mouse? What mouse?"

Excellent, I've noticed a photo thread in time to take part :)

I have several candidates for this one, but I'm going to go for an owl too. Eye contact from an owl is very compelling.

Interesting idea for a competition. Here is a meerkat. Yes, a meerkat.

I was going to post a lovely picture of a meerkat, until I realised that it'd instantly disqualify me from this and all future competitions.

There's something haunting about staring into the eyes of another creature. I can't help but wonder what's going through its mind as it checks me out. "Nice shirt", "another stupid human with a camera", "come a little closer and fall into my enclosure - I'm hungry", "what you looking at, punk?".

Great pics guys. Keep them coming.

SMR, that pic of the meerkat sounds intriguing. I hope it lives up to the hype. :p

These pics are more "Who the hell do you think you're looking at!" than "Here's looking at you, kid" which sounds cute and friendly. I'm particularly scared by kc's hawk!

At least let me PREEN first!

Female bald eagle (Haliaetus leucocephalus) at the Minnesota Zoo, taken the day before my workshop at the UMN Raptor Center. Ironically enough, the zoo got this gorgeous lady from the Raptor Center in 2009.

    Happy travels.

Throwing stones, are we? Is it ok to submit a photo and then a few hours later, to replace it with another? :p

This is NOT for the comp but I thought I would show you how hard it was to decide between the two

EDIT - Just found these in my collection but still sticking with Nanger, please feel free to leave a comment about any of the images
