It never should have happened that they got loose in the first place. It wasn't like they tunneled out or there was a breach in the fence. Someone didn't close the gate when they were released. It just adds to the sadness that it took that long to catch them.

Oh my gosh, I visited the zoo on Saturday morning and the calf was born on Saturday afternoon! The zoo itself is extremely small (I think they only have around 10 exhibits), but very pleasant, and seeing the little escape artist Capybaras was fun to see!
Just uploaded twenty-one photos of the free admission "zoo" (read: a row of paddocks a la Cincinnati's former Wildlife Canyon). While this is a part of my childhood, I wouldn't recommend this to all but the most die hard zoo lovers. Not because the exhibits are terrible or anything, but there is only twelve species at the zoo in basic paddocks; none of them are rare (aside from maybe the aoudads and mouflons) and all of them can be seen in much better enclosure in other zoos like the Toronto Zoo.
While Toronto Zoo struck out with bison calves this year, Toronto still has one bison calf. A male calf was born at High Park to parents Benny and Whistler. They have a contest to name him. Is there a Rumble coming to the High Park Zoo? | TRNTO.com
