    Hillcrest Park Zoo is a facility located in Clovis, New Mexico, and is touted as "New Mexico's second-largest zoo". Species located include Bengal tiger, spotted hyena, North American river otter, llama, American bison, American white pelican, Harris hawk, caracal, bat-eared fox, common genet, grey wolf, and giraffe (exact species not given).

    On March 30th, 2021, the zoo announced they have acquired a (0.1) llama, as well as the birth of a (0.0.1) llama.

    On May 13th, the zoo announced a (0.0.1) American bison was born in the week of May 2nd-8th.

    On July 12th, the zoo announced a tunnel was installed into the caracal exhibit.

    On March 24th, the zoo announced the births of a (0.0.1) common eland named Winter, (0.0.2) Nubian ibexes named Hiccup and Bert, and (0.0.3) European mouflon named Cheeto, Queso, and Pickle.

    On June 1st, the zoo announced that a (1.0) Bactrian camel was born on April 10th.

    On June 15th, Studio 4 News posted an interview with the director, which gave more insight. New details include:

    - Adding an irrigation system for plants (for which construction has begun).
    - New signage for the exhibits.
    - Final drawings for the new facade of the zoo are in the process of being finished.
    - Construction on a few exhibits has begun.
    - Bactrian camel exhibit is currently under renovations.

    On July 12th, the zoo announced that they have acquired (0.2) miniature ponies from a rescue operation in April.

    On August 11th, the zoo announced they have moved their (1.0) Asian water monitor named Gamble from inside the Reptile House to the bird area of the facility.

    On September 1st, the zoo announced they acquired (1.1) southern tamandua which arrived at the facility the week prior.

    On December 28th, the zoo announced that their (0.1) bald eagle named Liberty passed away due to cancer.

    A pair of kangaroos has arrived - the Zoo’s first in quite some time. They’ll eventually join the emus in the Australian section, followed by wallabies in the spring.

    On March 22nd, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) common eland was born on March 20th.

    On April 17th, the zoo announced that (1.1) red kangaroos were born and were later named Jack and Pepper.

    On January 22nd, 2024, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) common marmosets named Charlie and Leola were born on January 6th, 2023, which are on exhibit.

    I casually red this article and wondered how in June 2022 a new director Damian Lechner was appointed with a vast zoo and field experience and that only 1,5 year later a new director comes in.

    Mind You: Not disputing her credentials ...like, but somewhat puzzled ... here! Anyone care to comment what is going down with getting this zoo up to standard?
