Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden How is

    Jambi the orang-utan getting on. She moved from chester zoo a number of years ago and i would like to know how she is getting on ..

    Sire is Chuij, born March 1996, Hamburg, arrived to Budapest in December 2004.
    Dam is Jambi, born August 1998, Chester, arrived to Budapest in March 2007.

    The baby was born in the morning hours 4th April 2010, the Ape House will be partly closed till 18th April. Mother and baby both doing well, Jambi rearing her newborn properly. She is first time mother. Fingers crossed, everything willl be fine henceforward.

    The last baby was born 10 years ago at Budapest Zoo.

    So how many orangs do they keep at the zoo inculding Jambi.Chuji and their infant...?

    There are 4 orangutan in Budapest Zoo. Chuij (male, 14 years old, was born in Hamburg), Mengale (female, 14 years old, was born in Budapest), Jambi (female, 12 years old, was born in Chester) and the baby.
