Well, it's quite a tricky situation! In this post I did a recount, which brought my total down to 98. After that I visited Zagreb's zoo, bringing me up to 99, but shortly after I realized I had missed a collection (Zeehondencentrum Pieterburen) that I visited when I was very young, meaning Zagreb actually turned out to be my 100th. Since then I've also come to realize that in my youth I've visited at least 3 petting zoos not previously counted in my total list, which technically do check all of the boxes to be a "zoo" - meaning Central Park Zoo would actually have been my 100th zoo, without me realizing so during my visit (or indeed long after, as I'm only finding this out now, a year after my visit).
I'll gladly claim Central Park Zoo as my 100th zoo! :D

As an update to this thread, my count is now 104: the previous 98 plus Pieterburen, 3 petting zoos (all visited as a child), Zagreb Zoo, and ZooParc de Beauval.

Manchester Museum is wonderful and their vivarium is wonderful but having visited I don't think I would call it a zoo tbh. Also, I would say their collection is extremely choice in the species they choose to keep, but I wouldn't call it extremely extensive (though to be fair the assistant curator was telling me on my visit that they have been downsizing the collection a fair bit since @TeaLovingDave's last visit and even @devilfish's visit a few months ago). I counted 22 species in the current collection, and this includes 8 non-amphibian species. I also know they do have one new frog species arriving next month but that still doesn't put them at the top of any amphibian quantity lists. Berlin Zoo has a much, much more extensive on-show collection than most other zoos I've visited with 32 species on-exhibit, not including the five different Dyeing Poison Dart Frog morphs they exhibit in a row.

    92. Duisburg Zoo
    93. Krefeld Zoo
    94. Weltvogelpark Walsrode
    95. Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover
    96. Berlin Zoological Garden
    97. Tierpark Berlin
    98. Leipzig Zoological Garden

So now that I've visited over 100 zoos does my opinion randomly become more valid?

The race is on! I don't have any big zoo trips planned and I'd be surprised if I pick up even five new collections before the end of the year, but might be able to pick up the pace in 2019 - hopefully! :D

I'm guessing/assuming I've been to another 10 small wildlife parks - mostly in Australia, but I can't recall which ones (there are so many of them here), and maybe another 1-2 zoos in Germany, but I've done this over a period of 42 years and I can not remember them all. I'm guessing it's approx. 70 all up.

Wow, some people here really visited a lot of zoos ))) I voted 1-9. My favourite was a zoo in Vienna (Tiergarten Schonbrunn). I even had rented an appartment in Vienna next to the zoo and visited it 3 times in 1 week. Zebras were my favourites!

A great choice for number 100, I'm closing in on that milestone, but doubt it will be anywhere as special!

Fingers firmly crossed Baby hangs on a few more days, then!

Make sure you pay attention to the oncillas at Dortmund, which are a different species to those you have seen elsewhere - and note my directions posted on the forum in the past regarding how to locate the Himalayan Masked Civets!
