As I was thinking about it, I realized I forgot at least a couple of facilities, Reptile Gardens and Bear Country USA in South Dakota, and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in Montana. I also should have Included the Large Animal Research Station in Alaska. The Carnegie Science Center in Pennsylvania also keeps a small public collection of reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. I have also been to the Hershey Park Zoo in Pennsylvania. This brings my total up to 46 facilities.

I’ve just visited five zoos in seven days, two in Switzerland (Basel and Zurich), one in France (Mulhouse) and two in England (Newquay and Axe Valley)

I also visited Basel and Zurich this year, it was the first time for me. Did you visit the small bird house in Zurich? It's not very big but a nice addition to a park.

Okay, so I was waiting for the end of the year to revisit this post but seeing as there doesn't seem to be a possibility for me to visit a new zoo at this point so I may as well update my list.

Bold, italicized, and underlined zoos are new visits since my last update and the two placs that was on the back of my memory for the longest time

    Turkey (9 or 10)
    Ataturk Forest Farm Zoo
    Darica/Faruk Yalcin Zoo
    Izmir Wildlife Park
    Bursa Zoo
    Gaziantep Zoo
    Istanbul aquarium
    Eskisehir Zoo
SeaLife Istanbul (back when it was TurkuaZoo) (one of the places that I forgot)
Samsun Municipality zoo (this is the other one I had lost on the back of mind probably because of how worse it was than AFFZ)

As I previously said, I also went to some crappy place under a shopping mall with an aquarium, some reptiles and some small/medium mammals. I don't know if it would count or if I should hold back on this one.

    USA (13)
    Bronx Zoo
    Queens Zoo
    Central Park Zoo
    Prospect Park Zoo
    New York Aquarium
    Mystic Aquarium
    SeaWrold Orlando
    Brevard Zoo
    Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo
    ZooTampa of Lowry Park
    Jacksonville Zoo
    St. Augustine Alligator Farm
    Turtleback Zoo

    Japan (9)
    Ueno Zoo
    Tama Zoo
    Kobe animal Kingdom
    Kobe City Oji Zoo
    Suma Aquarium
    Himeji Central Park
    Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium
    Tennoji Zoo
    Nagasaki Biopark

    France (1)
Menagerie du Jardin Du Plantes (too bad that I was 6 years old and too dumb to know what a Pondicherry vulture, and urial is to appreciate them. Plus, my family skipped the a lot of exhibits)

    Germany (6)
    Cologne zoo.
    Berlin Zoological park
    Tierpark Berlin
    Zoo Leipzig
    Zoo Wuppertal
    Zoo Frankfurt

    Netherlands (5)

Artis (I filled out my ABC list there)
    Burgers Zoo
    Apenheul
    Diergarten Bijdorp
    Derenpark Zie-Zoo

    Czechia (2)
    Prague Zoo
    Zoo Plzen

    Belgium (2)
    Zoo Antwerp
    Pairi Daiza

    Austria (1)
    Tiergarten Shönbrunn

    Hungary (1)
    Budapest Zoo

So that is 49 or 50 zoos I have visited. I was hesitant to bring up Samsun and TurkuaZoo since I fail to remember and mention them for the longest time. And since I am still hessitant to consider the shopping mall zoo I mentioned as one I won't change my rank until I wisit a new zoo which is likely to be next year.

I don’t recall a small bird house specifically, unless it was part of the complex that also had penguins. Intriguingly, Red and White Crake was signed but I didn’t manage to see it/them. Zootierliste shows Zurich as one of only four European collections with the species.

Sorry, I meant the bird house situated in one of the parks in Zurich

    Zurich Aviary and Bird Sanctuary

It was the kind of birdhouse you might find in an older zoo and had a small but interesting collection of birds.

I missed the crake, don't even remember seeing them signed, but very much enjoyed the exotarium.

I guess the most interesting specimens would be the two sandpiper species - were they visible when you visited?

Unfortunately not. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between indoor and outdoor aviaries, I could have easily missed them if they were there. I squeezed this place in after a visit to Goldau earlier in the day.
