Does anybody know what I should do if all of my photos are way above the size limit for media and it doesn't let me upload them?

Yes as @ZooBinh said you should ask your question as a new thread in the Animal Photography section and we will help you.

Actually, if it's a technical question about uploading photos to ZooChat, it should be posted in the Help and Feedback forum - I've moved these posts to a new thread there.

Exactly how large are we talking? What are the dimensions of the image (pixels) and how large is the file (MB) ?

The gallery software should automatically resize images for you - but there are limits. I may need to revisit them.

If you have high speed internet, uploading large images shouldn't really be a problem - but if it takes a while for you to upload the photos, you'd be better off resizing them at your end first to save you time and bandwidth.

I think they are around 7 MB each

The reason I ask is that you are hitting a limit enforced by the software to discourage users from uploading extremely large files. By default, that limit is 20MP, whereas 6000x4000 = 24MP.

However, the software was originally launched nearly 9 years ago at which point, 20MP was exceedingly large for images - and bandwidth was much more problematic.

So I think now is a reasonable time to increase the limit and have done so - hopefully you will be able to upload your photos now (if you still can't it's likely some other limit imposed by the web server itself, which I will also need to change).

The photos will be automatically resized once uploaded - so the only real factor now is whether you are prepared to wait for 24MP photos to upload. It may be quicker to resize them at your end before uploading. But it shouldn't matter at our end now if you do decide to upload them.

Let me know if you still have problems with the upload!

Thanks for making the change, as I was also having an issue with larger photos being added to the gallery. I just uploaded a handful from Woodland Park Zoo and they made their way onto the site in seconds. Thanks again!

Well, I struggle a little problem with my photos. I've uploaded a snow leopard to Wrocław zoo's gallery and seen how bad is the quality of the photo...

When working on it on the computer - I think I do everything I could - not only resize but always also save for Internet (for smaller weight). I tried also with smaller size and bigger size (both with small weight) and even to sharp more. Well... I can't handle it.

I was looking for the answer here and in Animal Photography however I think it could be a more technical problem. Is there something that I am unaware? What else should I do?

Photographs should automatically process and resize when uploaded, so just upload the original photographs you take :)

Ok, so I add another one which I wanted with no resizing. It's still a little blurred (however isn't originally) but in... well... nicer way :p.

If anyone would have tips, I am so open to learn new things!
