Baby white Naped Mangabey , seen on recent visit.

There is a second Cheetah sharing Saba's exhibit next to Howletts house.

Couldn't see any Kudu, or Javan Langur in the exhibit by the Siamangs. Weren't in house or out . on the grass exhibit area . Does anyone know if they've been moved ?

Made my first trip to howletts this year usually visit 3-4 times a year noticed female Indian tiger Lahore and male fishing cat must off passed away since my last visit in October.

Was great to see the two new Sumatran tigers together I don’t know there names

Anyone know of any future new arrivals or departures or potential breeding

Yes I forgot to mention the cheetah I did ask when I was there.
He is a male the litter brother of Saba born at Port Lympne in 2017 they are apparently both being sent back to the wild.

I had a nice visit to Howletts today. It has been several years since my last visit, but there have not been many changes. As usual I failed to spot any of the smaller cats, but another visitor kindly pointed out both of the margays for me. There were lots of moloch gibbons including a very small baby, plenty of dusky langurs and 2 Javan langurs: but I did miss the other surillis. The numbers of big cats have waned over the years, but there were plenty of elephants. I saw 6 greater kudus, but they didn't all come out until just before closing time.
The unusual feature was that the main part of the old gorillarium was completely empty of gorillas. Sammi and his females were in the original range of gorilla cages, with all the doors between them open, but the bridges closed. I could see a single male, apparently on the blackback to silverback cusp, in the old chimp section at the back right of the gorillarium. At the gorilla talk, it was explained that this male is leaving for Melbourne tomorrow (Tuesday 30th). He has passed all the medical tests required, but he has to kept away from the others to prevent any possibility of infection. Infuriatingly I can't remember his name. @ShonenJake13 has suggested to me that it was probably Kisane or Nkoumou, but I can't be sure and I couldn't even get a good look at him through all the wires as he was understandably restless. Anyway bon voyage and good luck to him.

I would suspect that the departing male might be destined for Mogo Zoo (in New South Wales) rather than Melbourne. Mogo have no male at present. Melbourne has a family group headed up by another former Howletts male (Otana). Easy mistake for the person doing the talk to make

    I think you're probably right.
I thought that going to Melbourne didn't make much sense when I looked up their gorillas in the unofficial studbook, but I wondered if there might be another reason; perhaps something had happened to Otana or the Australian zoos had decided to reshuffle their pack of gorillas. Your explanation makes much more sense.

To reply to my own post - after studying group lists and dates of birth, I think it's Kisane who's flying away today.

    Very sad news

African elephant matriarch Masa has died after collapsing. Estimated to have been born in 1969 she is believed to have been the oldest or one of the oldest African elephants in Britain.

Heart goes out to her keepers and all connections

She was the oldest African elephant in Britain and, together with Ettie of Peaugres, the second oldest African elephant in Europe (the oldest is Yoyo in Barcelona).

The male lion was put to sleep on Tuesday, but I don't think there is any official announcement; I subsequently heard the news from as Aspinal's staff member.

The name Jabir rings a bell. The female was very vocal on the day, but at the time, I didn't know of her housemates' death.

Monumental birth and welcome to the African elephant EEP!

How long since the last one? Who is the sire?
