    Hello fellow Zoochatters,

I know that there exists a ban on importing wild caught birds into The European Union. But small imports of wild caught birds to zoos are still allowed, arent they?

How could one import wild caught birds from South America, Asia or Africa to zoos in The European Union? How easy and feasible would it be?

Several American zoos like The DWA have in recent years imported wild caught birds from South American countries like Guyana to their facilites. Could bird imports from Guyana to The EU also be carried out?

Could birds belonging to common species living in the wild in lets say Tanzania or other African countries be collected and imported to Europe? Which Asian countries allow the restricted capture and exports of birds?

Can you name any well known breeders and exporters of native birds in Africa, Asia or Latin-America?
