Niki wont be mature till mid 2012, by then Chandra is well over 27.
What is the rationale here? Was Mary too related to the SSP or did she already have enough representation within the SSP?

When will the 2006 calf (name escapes me) be shipped out to Dubbo?

Will the transfer of Mary to Singapore make the latter formally an SSP participant?

Mary is an offspring of the worldly well-represented Basel line. She already has three female offspring, one of which has already produced...her genes will most likely live on in the SSP population. Niki represent some other underrepresented lines making her a good match for Chandra, who is basically a founder since he is the only surviving offspring of Los Angeles's wild caught pair. His age wont be a factor, Patrick is currently 35 yrs old and produces plently of semen.

    No.

Its going to be somewhat confusing now that there are two Indian females named Nikki.

I was at Lowry Park zoo about a week ago and was told by a keeper that their female rhino is off display right now because she looks "very pregnant". They had seen mating a little over a year ago but where not sure if she was inseminated or not. I was told Indian rhinos will breed up to a few month after conception. This meant the calf would arrive between July and Sept. this year but she has bagged up so much that they are keeping her in the barn because she looks like she could give birth any day now.

The Indian Rhino female is still on display, even with the male...and keepers are expecting a birth this fall.

When did she go back out on exhibit? I didn't see her at all. Keepers were cleaning the yard and I figured they shifted her back to clean. I didn't even think about where she was until the keepers told me about her pregnancy.

But what about Henry Doorly Zoo, Montgomery Zoo, Buffalo Zoo, Tanganyika Wildlife Park,The Wilds,Valdosta Wildife Adventure Themepark, and San Franciso ? From all the others I know they do not.

Omaha HDZ does not have any rhino indoor viewing.
It doesn't appear in the construction plans that the new holding buildings for rhinos will be open for viewing either.

Safari Wilderness (referenced as "Safari Wilds" above) does not have and Rhinos right now that I am aware of, they do, however, at Giraffe Ranch in Dade City owned by the same group.
