I believe giant weta have been sent to a few overseas zoos, but you're not likely to see them legally in private hands. However considering the amount of animal smuggling that goes on around the world there are probably weta in private collections outside NZ (there are for example many species of NZ reptile that have never been legally exported to private or zoo collections, and yet they are being bred and sold in Europe)
