Invasive Mussel-species

Do you know why they are called quagga mussels? Any relation to the extinct zebra?

 

I know I'm always sceptical, but this case comes to light just as the EU is looking at an invasive species ban which sounds a good idea, but species thought to be invasive/ non native won't be listed prior to the ban being implemented.
