There was a long article in Saturday's Daily Telegraph magazine about a meeting with Cheeta the 'Tarzan' chimp who lives at a sanctuary in Palm Springs . He has his own compound but comes into the house for the 'interview' with the reporter .

Does anyone know if this chimp is really 76 years old ? Often in films a number of animals are used to represent just one character e.g. lots of lions used in 'Born Free' , wonder if this is the case here and this was a 'later' Cheeta .

I think its generally recognised there were several different chimps used as 'Cheeta' in the Tarzan films which stretched over several decades. This might be one of the later ones- or maybe not even a genuine 'Cheeta' at all(!)- but I'll bet he isn't really that old...
