Is there any chatter going to the August meeting who would be kind and willing to give me a lift from/to Peterborough rail station? Hearing about all the new additions to the collection since last year, it would be a terrible shame to miss out this year! TIA :)

I can tentatively offer you a place, but this is on the assumption one of the people I have already offered lifts too isn’t coming (they’re not certain as of yet) :) I will PM you more details once I hear back!

I may also be able to help! But I'm not 100% as to whether I have the time off work yet :)

I will be traveling from Southwell (near Newark) to the Zoo via car. So if anyone is in need of a lift to/from the zoo, they are welcome to one!

With exactly a week to go to the IZES summer meeting,it is pertinent to give an outline of the fairly brief agenda. People attending the meeting should state so at the entrance and will be given a badge. Myself and/or Mike Grayson will collect the participation/entrance fee at the event room(£8 IZES members,£12 non-members). The swap/meet of ephemera and introduction/welcome is at 2.00pm(all tables are now taken) and there will be a tour of the zoo with the director(and ZooChat contributor) after the official closing time which will be over by around 7.30 pm(the rest of the day around this fascinating collection is your own). Anyone that wishes to join the IZES on the day can do so(£20)..thus saving £4 on the participation fee, also a saving of £5-10 on the forthcoming American zoo book and they will get the new edition of Zoo Grapevine and International Zoo News to take away with them. Hopefully that is fairly clear.

That's going to be an awkward car ride, with FunkyGibbon snubbing Brum the entire way.

Just in case anyone was wondering...
The fire and explosion yesterday afternoon was indeed about a mile north-east'ish of the park. It was a combine (harvester) fire. The driver managed to get the machine out of the crop, and he (and his dog!) are both fine - but the combine itself was totaled.
