Izoo had a meeting with the Indonesian government and Taman safari park to take komodo dragons with a loan and paeticipate in a breeding program. If the Indonesian government allows iZoo to keep komodos the collection will be the only one in Japan to keep Komodos ever since Ueno lost its own komodo dragons.イズー(体感型動物園 iZoo) Also before iZoo was established in 2012, the place was actually called andy/ande land which was built in 1986 which exhibited turtles and tortoises.
I assume you meant viable and fertilized egg(s) for Cyclura nubila nubila? BTW: May 7 this year they had 2 radiated tortoise hatch out. More eggs in incubator!!!
Also this place seems to be collaborating with zoo Praha (where the C. nublia nublia came from if the fb translation is correct) according to their fb pagge and the twitter page of their director. イズー(体感型動物園 iZoo) 白輪剛史 on Twitter Edit: are there any Czech zoochatters who can find points that I failed to find?
The Cuban ground iguanas laid 11 eggs. Hopefully zoo Praha wont regret sending those Cuban ground iguanas.
It is spider tortoise breeding season. While previous eggs were damaged (from what I can understand from the broken grammar of the translation), this egg was safe.
I have seen your post only now. The Prague zoo got 7 captive-born Ear-less monitors from Japan (from iZoo I guess) in year 2016 and one animal is on show in the Indonesian Jungle house now. When they got imported, the zoo made a lot of PR work to propagate this species among general public. The Twitter picture shows Prague Zoo´s curator of reptiles Mr. Petr Velenský with a print-out of "Pražský Koník" - a periodical magazine issued by Prague zoo and sent to supporters of the zoo and also for sale inside the zoo. Prague Zoo also is source of these Cuban ground iguanas (sent in exchange for ear-less monitors). In fact "my" zoo is studbook keeper for Cyclura nubila and also has record of first breeding in Europe in year 1993. The most famous individual is male "Pepíno", imported from wild in late 1980s and still on show in Prague.
The fb page has made an announcement about the earless monitors. Since things about the initial clutch from 2014 was mentioned the tl wasn't the mist helpful thing. However seeing the F2 term should bring some excitement. And tge eggs are expected to hatch on Oxtober 23rd. イズー(体感型動物園 iZoo)
Can this zoo be done from Tokyo within a day together with kawazoo? I know @devilfish have visit here before and I want to know more.
I'm not sure about Kawazoo as well, but I think that should be fine. Just prepare for a very long day, with at least 3.5 hours of travel each way from Tokyo. Kawazoo hadn't opened when we visited, so we stopped in Atagawa on the way to visit the last Amazonian manatee outside South America. I expect that Kawazoo would be smaller than iZoo, in which case a full day should give you enough time to visit both facilities well.
This is not about the zoos, but its director. The director of the zoos has publicly announced his plan to build and open an "animal keepers college". Security Check
