There's no real need for a Camargue area, as those species are found in many Iberian places, specially in the South. But Camargue is nice too.

Fair enough, I thought it was a little uncharacteristic for you to let standards slip so much! :p

To the point to where my Biology teacher thinks Australian wildlife such as Koalas are also native to New Zealand.

I wanted to have a visual break between Iberia and the Alps. A sort of contrasting area.

Have you thought of including a sturgeon species in your Danube Delta area?

I might as well wait for your next update, but I couldn't help but ask.

I guess I should give the rough outline of the next exhibit.

    Black Forest
    Wisent, Red Deer, Wild Boar
    Brown Bear, Red Fox

    Danube Delta
    Walk-through aviary
    River fish exhibit
    River Hippopotamus, Water Buffalo, waterfowl
    Asian Lion
    Striped Hyena

That last one should be controversial enough :D

I really enjoy seeing all of these updates about the new exhibit. Sadly I don't know very much about European habitats so can someone please explain to me where the Danube Delta is and why there are hippos, buffalos, lions, and hyenas in it?

jb is going back in time to a period not too long ago when all these species inhabited the second largest river delta in Europe, located in Romania and Ukraine. If I remember correctly, the extinctions of these species in the area was natural which is why i personally find this to be controversial. Though I didn't know River Hippopotamus once inhabited the region.

Thanks Thylo! I have never heard of this region until today. I didn't even know that hippos used to live in Europe.

Well I never heard of it either until jb told me about it one day in the chatroom!:p Well there have been entire species located in Europe like the European Hippo (H. antiquus) and the Cretan Dwarf Hippo (H. creutzburgi). Perhaps the River Hippo is just a fill-in for the now Extinct European species.

    H. amphibius was also found in the region. The water buffalo, however, is a substitute species for the European water buffalo.

Any update on that last exhibit you had been working on, by any chance?

Are you planning on resuming designing that European exhibit anytime soon jbnbsn? I think it's time you return to this thread.
