    On January 16th, 2023, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) fennec foxes were born on December 15th, 2022.

    On February 8th, the zoo announced they moved their (0.1) Burmese python into a new exhibit.

    Sad news this week, Joburg's elderly male Eastern Bongo has died. He was the last bongo in Southern Africa.

    On February 14th, the zoo announced that (0.0.15) puff adders were hatched on January 18th, though one was born with deformities and euthanized soon after.

    On February 23rd, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) king vulture hatched which are now on exhibit.

    On February 27th, the zoo announced that (0.0.4) Australian black swans hatched which are now on exhibit.

    On April 5th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) spider monkey (species not specified) named Olive was born in January and is currently being hand-raised by staff.

    On April 20th, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) grey-crowned cranes were hatched on March 11th and March 13th respectively.

    On May 4th, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) yellow-cheeked gibbon was born on March 8th and is now on exhibit.
