Kayangel Atoll may soon be the first of Palau's islands to become rat free: Incredible “Incubator Bird” to be saved by rat removal on Pacific island
That seems a bit of a premature title; the article states that they're waiting til a 2019 survey before they can be sure if it was successful.
It is still good news for Micronesian scrub fowl and come to think of it many other wildlife species aside! Examples given were marine turtles nesting on Kayangel, Palau and Palau flying fox. The other cool thing is good cooperation and engagement with local community, who are also set to benefit with the primary threat to their agricultural crops being removed! Fingers crossed for the 2019 survey.
