Since we have multiple threads on this site that relate to irritating and laughable statements made by typical zoo guests, I was interested in starting a thread where people can share the more intelligent statements they've heard. I say 'kids' because they are the ones that you wouldn't expect to hear random animal facts from children. I apologize if there is already a thread for this.

Last year I heard a child approximately at the age of 5, telling his grandmother how a bonobo is a human's closest relative.

On one occasion I heard a little girl at around the age of 4 correcting her father that gorillas are apes, not monkeys.

Without him reading the sign, I heard an 8 year old boy correct his mother on the fact that okapis are related to giraffes, not zebras.

Not exactly with smart things, but when I have gone to the Bronx zoo the past two weeks :)D) whenever I look like I am/about to take a picture I see other kids say "Oh I'm sorry" and they move away (To which I usually reply something about how it's no problem, I'd rather let young kids learn/watch an animal than me take a picture of one)

Currently I'm 13 years old... not exactly a kid. But when I was younger, I already knew a lot about animals.

I'm almost 19 and I still consider myself to be more kid than adult, no matter what the law says:p

    Thirteen, teenager.

A kid is someone who isn't legally an adult.

Hubert was the smartest child I have met as a volunteer. He was about 5 years old and came to see the Hoofed Mammal trolley in the giraffe house. "I bet you don't know what my favourite animal is.... My favourite animal is a tapir." I thought that made a nice change, but I was taken aback when he said, "I know about prehistoric platypuses." I came out with a list of genera ... "Stereopodon, Ob.." "Obdurodon". It makes a change from dinosaurs ... and trying to explain why Dimetrodon is not a dinosaur.

Like Kenneth Williams, I still consider a kid to be a baby goat.

I'm 15 (almost 16) so call me a kid or not (don't really care, but most people think I'm an adult until I tell them otherwise) but by now I know more about some species than keepers in keeper talks, tour guides, or the like do. But I'm not the focus!

I can't think of too many smart things kids have said that I've heard, because their parents usually let them believe the wrong things. Today, however, I did have a kid point to a monkey and say "you're pointing the camera the wrong way Mr.! The monkey is right there!". I had turned my camera to the side and was talking to someone over my shoulder.

So a 17 years, 11 months and 29 days person is a kid?
I don't know if this is the person's opinion, age difference in Brazil or something else, but saying you're a kid or not, age does not change.
