Is male white rhino Oscar still at the Safari Park? On their website they are only talking about new male rhino Shaka and two female rhinos.

On January the 18th Rothschild's giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi) Daia gave birth to a male, he was given the name Dayo.
At the begining of March the first llama of the year was born, its a male! More llama births are expected later in Spring.

After the giant enclosure for circus elephants Knuthenborg is creating a big new exhibit for circus tigers. I don't know exactly the size but the exhibit will make several hectares and will house 6 - 8 tigers. The park wants to increase the tigers welfare and will allow them to live alone with an exhibit that can be divided into four. Visitors will visit the tigers by a 200 metres long and 5 metres high footbridge.
The opening is expecting for mid May and the first tiger will come from Spain.

I just fail to see why there should be a role or duty for zoos or safari parks to invest in rescue of maltreated animals from circus or substandard facilities. In my view pandering to animal lib orgs and doing nothing constructive for conservation of endangered species or captive breeding for conservation.

During my visit there in september I was told they prefer not to breed more new tigers to live in captivity, when there are others already alive that need a good place to go. I'm sure taking in the circus tiger was better than leaving it where it was..
