Seems like I confused rosy bee eater with carmine bee eater. But yes Kobe will be keeping carmine bee eaters.
As the new shoebill exhibit is getting opened more footage of the exhibit it released. While there are posts on the plovers and bee-eaters but not on the spoonbills. The original announcement on the new shoebill exhibit was removed and the new announcement does not mention the spoonbills. https://twitter.com/kobe_doubutsu/status/1385399706931515394 https://twitter.com/kobe_doubutsu/status/1385219283827892228 https://twitter.com/suntvcatchplus/status/1385173468488998913 It seems that the shoebills still share the same space with guests. Seems like the hopes of breeding shoebills is still is in vain. KAK also made an instagram live post with a sign in the exhibit which had the word hormone written in katakana. The sign may discuss why they believe they might be able to achieve the dream of breeding shoebills but I don't understand Japanese and the video quality isn't too well, so I can't just take a screen shot of the sign and give it to someone who knows Japanese to translate it.
Along with many other Japanese zoos, Kobe animal kingdom was closed due to a state of emergency declared by the prefecture. Bichir has been added. Two Japanese night herons were spotted by a visitor in the new shoebill enclosure. DSC09528
Shoebill Kashishi was transferred from Nasu for breeding. Servals born. Number and sex ratio not confirmed.
the babies are 1.1 and are exhibited with their mother and are not being exploited as a temporary exhibit unlike the sand cats. Bactrian camel Clara/Kurara has passed away.
Construction for the pudu enclosure has begun. https://mobile.twitter.com/kumamon_naoki/status/1413685295971594242
The pudu enclosure will open at July 22 near the rabbits and guinea pigs. Idk if the pudus are related. That information probably is up on ZIMS.

I think they possibly are, allthough end of 2016 Saitama Zoo imported 2.2 from Chile direct! Both males were 2-year olds as was one of the females, the other being a 1-year old. First birth occurred in February 2017. This calf lived till end December 2018 and died. Another was born in July 2018. I would assume it has been an annual event since then. The news item states M Zel (1) and F Ray (2) are being transferred to Kobe Zoo and Saitama Zoo at present is the only collection in Japan and breeding the species. Global population according to the report stood at 129 in 38 collections.
Seems like a new crowd fund will start. It seems like this is for pallas cats, servals, small clawed otters, and the nocturnal animals. https://mobile.twitter.com/rimurimu7506/status/1419253777090039808/photo/4
Other than habitat expansions the most interesting crowd funding goals are the nocturnal animal section. There are plans for owls, bamboo rats, and Japanese dwarf flying squirrels (not to confuse with Ezo flying squirrels).
It turns out that these puppies are incest babies. I’d be posting a picture of an enraged man if I knew whether or not it is safe to post images relating to my reactions is alright here.
The bush dog puppies are being displayed in the enclosure where the first sand cat kitten was exhibited.
The crowdfunding goal for 30 million yen has been reached which includes new nocturnal enclosures and an improved otter enclosure.
