The park admits that the female shoebill kashishi was not able to form a good match with the male Bongo and therefore is being sent back to Nasu in October 3.
I mean, the exhibit contains 1.2 shoebills which makes it considerably cramped for the animals (those who visited the park when the area was still the flight stage+water lily exhibit can confirm). The announcement includes concerns over the birds causing tensions to each other. Even if Kashishi is gone Bongo still has Marimba which the park says are in a better relationship (albeit idk if it is a relationship consists of a cloacal kiss.)
To be honest with you KAK, i dont think bad relationship is the main problem for unsuccesful breeding.
Yea. There’s the background music, the enclosure being walkthrough and never getting closed at all, and the keepers are probably interfering with the birds so they don’t hurt the blacksmith plovers (which has happened before).
A new lowland tapir baby was born to Mei and Haniwa. This raises questions about what has happened to Natto which cane to KAK from Kyoto and Pazu/Pazuu/Pazoo which was born in Nasu.

Female peccary named Tsubaki was born in December and is being raised by keepers, probably for the intent for being an “ambassador animals” this is gonna be interesting.
The sloth mentioned in the post has been named Babydon (named after a song that has the words “baby” and “don’t”) and will be transferred to kumamoto zoo.
Red Kangaroo Mamezou has passed on at the age of 9 at February 10. He was one of the first animals to arrive to KAK after it got converted from Kobe Kachoen. Mamezou was famous for his relaxed looks and lying down looking relaxed. New animals have arrived: Eurasian ring necked doves (including domestic morphs.) They seem to be in the tropical forest exhibit. Sand cat female Bary is now off exhibit. According to an instagram post posted by a visitor, there are preparations for the arrival of gundis. The exhibit seems to be the one Bary used to live in. Chances are, the gundis will be from Saitama Children’s Zoo. I do not know if new animals will be imported from Europe to KAK or SCZ to improve the Japanese gene pool.
1.1 bush dogs born to siblings Calica and Norimaru. Honestly I do wonder if this is under the radar of an international bush dog studbook.
Both Toco toucans and fennec foxes will be off display from February 25. Serval exhibition will be suspended for expansion starting from March 4.
3/4(金)から "砂漠の妖精"グンディ 公開スタート! | 神戸どうぶつ王国 The park has announced the arrival of common gundis. There’s no information about where these animals are from. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are from Saitama rather than be new blood from Europe. Edit: Saitama Children’s zoo confirms that they sent away gundis. There’s no information on regarding the sex ratio if the animals.
