    Mia, a 20 month old Snow Leopard has arrived from Nürnberg. The previous Kolmarden female rejected her cubs....

    Some of them were adopted by an other female in Nordens Ark, Sweden.

    Only 0:1 was sent to Nordens Ark (Irma) and she was moved to Twycross in early 2010. In June 2011 she became a Mother to twins (1:1) whom she has reared herself. Her "adopted" sister (Irina) (whon was one of the original cubs from the Nordens Ark's litter) is rearing triplets at Marwell. They were born a week after Irma's cubs

    Today Kolmården confirms that 15 year old Bua is pregnant. The royal court, aswell as the King himself are informed. In September 2013 Sweden's first asiatic elepant will be born. The father is a bull from the UK.

    Kolmarden 2011 Visit

    I visited Kolmarden last May and I was tremendously impressed! In fact I think they are one of the best zoos in Europe. I very much enjoyed the dolphin show and saw nothing "circus-like" in the show. Yes, it's a show and it's mostly entertainment (with lots of glitzy lights and loud music), but what's wrong with that? Shows like this keep the money flowing, which keeps the park's conservation efforts going. The opposite extreme would be the way my local zoo (Indianapolis USA) has struggled for years with their dolphin presentations. It has seemed like they've got overboard to keep them "educational" and not shows -- and the results have been a very lukewarm response from zoo visitors. But now the Zoo (Indianapolis) is making the show more entertaining and they are more popular than ever.

    Over great things about Kolmarden: the cable car Safari ride is amazing! Tiger World is one of the best tiger exhibits anywhere, as is their huge snow leopard habitat. It's really interesting to see seals and penguins living together. Their wolf woods exhibit is impressive too, as are most of the animal exhibits. And yes, I even like their special kids areas, Wild Camp and Bamse's World. They also have a few real theme park rides, including the Dolphin Express roller coaster.

    ANyhuis, thanks for the review. Even if I don't actually work at the zoo I feel a bit proud that a ZooChatter visited and thought it was good :)

    Can you confirm which bull it is? There could possibly be three;

    1. Upali at Chester

    2. Emmett at Whipsnade

    3. Raja at Whipsnade

    Either Upali or Emmett would be the obvious choice, but maybe Woburn are trying to represent Raja more, he did however become the father to two stillborns in the UK (Twycross and Woburn, see Tara's calf thread). I think it may be Upali.

    The bull is from Woburn Safari Park, and as I understand Raja is the only bull there so it is obviously him.

    You are welcome, Kwambeze. I loved Kolmarden and consider it among the
    Top 15 zoos in Europe.

    Their goal is to be in the top in the world, and have some big news for the following years... So have your eyes open, Kolmården got both the money and the area to build one of the worlds best zoo's.

    Paternity of Gorilla young.

    As Nasibu has recently fathered a baby at Lisbon Zoo, I thought I would bump this question again, regarding the paternity of the babies born at Kolmarden. And have there been any more?
