Are they open all year round? The website only has open dates through September 2012 (and then only open weekends), but it is now the end of October. Also, it looks as if they have a really nice hotel on grounds? Is that open year round also? I really want to go in the winter sometime (not this year) to get photos of snow leopards and amur tigers in the snow. Also, do you know if the bus from Norrkoping runs in the winter?
I'm pretty certain that Kolmarden is closed during the winter. You are correct, their hotel really IS very nice -- I stayed there. They have a nice restaurant, a great set of swimming pools, gorgeous rooms, and a terrific view of the Baltic Sea.
They are closed but have special openings, for example for 4 or 5 days over Halloween and other holidays such as Easter when there is very possibly snow on the ground still. I would email them to check the days when you might be able to visit [email protected]

2014 will be a year without big news in Kolmården Wildlife Park. Instead Kolmården are focusing on the elephant and rhino calves born last year and the dolphin show, Life, which had premiere 2013. Next year Kolmården turns 50 and some big news will be presented... I hold my thumbs for a new great ape house, they really need it.
Look forward to hearing about it, this oo has some great exhibits, just a shame it is so AR from anywhere!
