There's nothing wrong in having a young outlook, Hix. The other day my wife said to me, "I wish I was 18 again." I looked at her and said, "I wish you were 18 again, too!"
Youngish 39 male, ex-keeper. Actually quite surprised at the ages of some our members, rather then the sex... although I've obviously gotten some of them wrong in the past. Doh!
Surprisingly I predicted most of the gender and age of members in around the right range,... weird...
I am very surprised at the number of young people. I thought they all spent their time on facebook or music sites. Go figure! I am male, 44, so maybe about average for this group. (Of course for a docent I'm below the average, since both at our zoo and at the national docent convention I went to they are about 90% female and retirement age). The keeper staff at Reid Park Zoo is also predominantly female. Is this a national trend?
I am log on to both Facebook and Zoochat at the same time most of the time. Anyways, I'm also surprised at how many Zoochatters are in their teens.
Still awaiting the ladies on here to contact me. I have vast experience with all types of animals and would love a chat sometime.
I'm definitely of the female persuasion, but only started posting this week so I'm probably not doing much for the stats at the mo! Oh, and I'm 27
For some reason which I'm at a loss to explain, zoo supporters do tend, more often than not, to be male (a gross generalisation I know). The membership of the Bartlett Society reflects this inexplicable trend, being comprised chiefly of people in possession of a Y chromosome, with surprisingly few women among the membership. I wish I could advance a theory for this.
