Well well well whos going to be a busy lad? Baby boom for the zoo | Pets and Animals | Warwick Daily News Congragulations Steve, all the best for you and Stephanie. The marmosets are cute, what species are they?
Sorry to bump an old thread lads but I have just seen this. You don't miss much jay! lol Thanks for your thoughts - today [24/10] is supposed to be THE day but nothing is happening yet. A business oriented baby would wait until close of trading tomorrow before making demands on our time!!
After an horrific four days of induced labour and an eventual Caesarian section, Steph finally produced Madeline Louise Robinson this morning at 9.30. Our cup runneth over with pure, unadulterated joy! This event has been anticipated for the last 10 years. Co-incidentally, we have been endeavouring to breed Ruddy Shelducks for the past ten years. This week, after trying 3 partners for our drake and dozens of different nesting sites over those years, we have successfully hatched 3 ducklings. What a wonderful week it has been.
That's wonderful news Steve! Congratulations to you and Steph. I opened a bottle of port and drank a toast to your new little daughter - may she have a long and happy life.
congrats steve! -try to make sure you oogle over your new daughter as much as you do your new ducklings!
No mate - we make every endeavour to let our animals raise their own!!! So far, so good with this one! LOL
Thank you Steph and I would like to thank all our ZooChat friends, most of whom we have never actually met, for your messages here on the forum, by PM and by email. What a wonderful tool the internet can be to bring people together at a time like this. Thank you all. A couple of people have asked me why we chose to become parents at my age. The short answer is that we actually chose to have a child over ten years ago. Madeline just took a decade to decide that it would be a good idea too! However, the facetious answer is that it became necessary to have another child to comply with government and industry concerns about continuity of exhibited animal stewardship. We reckon that the Darling Downs Zoo has Australia's best succession plan now in place. From me the zoo goes to Steph [20 years my junior] then to my #1 son Mark, then to his son Michael then on to Maddi. We should be right now for the next seventy years or so!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to have missed this thread until now. Congratulations to you Steve, and best wishes to both mum and baby. Just do me one small favour - don't let her have her own tv show until she's 21.
