Do all the golden takin in Europe, originate from the Liberec import?

I would love to see the studbook of theirs (or whatever way they store data about them) Genetics-wise it must be total madness by now

 

The zoo has 2 Bonelli's eagle (Aquila fasciata) chicks in incubator.

There are big plans for Liberec - zoo should acquire new ground, its size would significantly grow (almost double?). There should be relocated some animals from old part as well as come new species, mostly those accustomed to colder climate, as wolves, wisents or ussuri tigers.
For now it is however probably only on the paper, at best.

 

A golden takin was born April 19th and a new group of armadillos arrived on April 6th.

 

A Lesser Spotted Eagle was born thanks to the use of insemination from frozen semen on June 8th. A first in the world.

A Przewalski horse gave birth to its second foal on May 25th. It is a female and its first foal which is a male will soon be transported to Zoo Chomutov

The 14th Bearded Vulture born at the zoo was released at the end of May in Baronnies National Park, France.

New faces in the zoo - Margay cats. A young pair came from Magdeburg who decided to get out of the species. They live in that small cat enclosure above seals.

 

Male white tiger Paris was euthanized due to health problems (he was 16 years old)
Director said that there aren´t plans to bring in new white tiger. For now Libere still keeps female white tiger which should also "inherit" Paris enclosure.

 

I wish they would concentrate the white tigers to a few designated collections within EAZA and release the spaces opened up then to regional pure-bred tiger breeding or holding station.

 

On Dec. 25 2020 the 100th Chapman zebra foal was born at Liberec .
The zoo started keeping this species 1970 when 3 wild-caught animals were recieved from Dvur Kralove. Sofar 57 males and 43 females have been born.

 

On February 30th another Chapman zebra foal was born at Liberec, bringing the total number of Chapman zebra births to 101!

For the first time a Southern three-banded armadillo was born at the zoo. According to Google Translate it's a male, but I am not 100% sure whether this is correct.

Very sad news. Rani, 58 years old elephant cow, was euthanized at Liberec zoo. In recent days, she stopped eating, began to have problems with the digestive tract and colic. RIP dear old lady.

The zoo also announced that Bala will stay for the time being, but it will be a matter of her possible transfer to another zoo. However, due to her nature, it will be difficult to find a place for her.

The Zoo started supporting the Kimboza Forest Gecko Project last December. They have received a pair of Blue Geckos from Zoo Leipzig, and are now contributing to the breeding program too.

Notable births include a male Przewalski's Horse foal, born on May 3 and a Reindeer calf.

 

Elephant Bala is 37 years old ..., so I would think it might not be that difficult to have her integrate into an all female herd of elder non-reproductive individuals. The win-win with a transfer to a good destination that can fullfill those criteria is Liberec Zoo will have freed up space for a new exhibit or expand another animal attraction in the present zoo.
