Lincoln Park Zoo shows off new polar bear home on hard-hat tour - Chicago Tribune https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/201...huge-new-polar-bear-habitat-opening-this-fall Huge? Hardly.. Looks like most other crappy new-ish Polar Bear habitats at Saint Louis, Louisville, Kansas City, etc.
Surprised to hear about the Lion House but I'm glad the zoo plans to do something about it. I'm hoping, like the previous penguin situation, the zoo has a long-term plan to re-integrate tigers into the collection, and maybe another species of bear or amur leopards or something. Here's hoping the new lion exhibit is a stunner. I'm not especially impressed with the new polar bear exhibit and it sounds like a lot of the best improvements are the zookeeping ones, although obviously access to grass is good for the animals. I'm not disappointed, it's an obvious improvement, it's just not something it's easy to make a point of? It sounds like penguins are on track to open around the same time again, too. Cool.
Well didn't they spend like 20 million on the two exhibits? I don't even think that's enough for the bear exhibit alone. 20 million can sure build a polar bear exhibit, but it ain't gonna be no Arctic Ring of Life.
