2 plains zebra are now on exhibit in Reginstein African Journey's savannah habitat. Plains Zebras Debut at Zoo | Lincoln Park Zoo
Cat House Updates: The entire building is empty of animals. Even the lion indoor exhibit is blocked off, and the gift shop is closed. All that remains is a sort of ocean 5D "experience" and a timeline of past (Macaques, penguins, polar bears) and future (Lion House and New Entrance) projects for the zoo. Getting real now! Construction for the new visitor center and entrance is in swing. A small barely noticeable temporary entrance stands beside it in the meantime.
Is it considered taboo on zoochat to reveal information that is available in the AZA SSP Breeding and Transfer Plans but not elsewhere?
A lot of zoos don’t like the information released before they make their own formal announcements. When animals are transferred, the zoo giving up the animal may inform people that the animals are leaving but not where they are going if the new zoo doesn’t want the information known yet.
And I take it that people usually respect that desire on these forums? Sorry I’m new and just want to confirm before posting any information people wouldn’t usually post.
First off welcome to zoochat. Yes people usually respect that desire, however, classified information can be shared via private message. As long it’s not revealed on the forum publicly.
Also a few people are actual employees of the institutions and aren’t allowed to reveal certain information
Thank you for your imput. That is exactly why I cannot reveal where Pavel is going. The Lincoln Park Zoo does not want to say where he is going and I respect that.
Standing next to the glass watching Pavel bellow to the crowds right now. Zoo employee telling people to get your pictures now as he's going to be leaving the zoo any day now. There was a mention of where but I'm not sure if I should repeat it here.
If keepers are openly talking about the general public, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be able to be repeated here.
Some news from September no one mentioned, a Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloth is now on exhibit in the Helen Brach Primate House: 2-Toed Sloth Luigi Joins Mario, a Monkey, at Lincoln Park Zoo
