A few updates from my visit:
    1. The orb weaver in Regenstein African Journey was not on exhibit
    2. McCormick Bird House is (or was) closed
    3. Penguins weren't on exhibit
    4. Quite a few terrariums in the children's zoo are empty

I hope nothing happened to the orbweaver! Maybe it just moved?

The bird house and penguin closures are due to bird flu.

I forgot about that, thanks for the reminder. If birds flu is a concern, why did they not take the puerto rican amazons off exhibit in the reptile/small mammal house?

Don't let the zoo hear you, or they might take the parrots off exhibit. ;)

Ah, I see, I’m a couple hours south, so they won’t hear me :p

What style is there exhibit? It its behind glass or far enough away from the viewing area, moving them off exhibit would be pointless.

It was fairly close to the viewing, and was made with mesh.

The concern is wild bird to captive bird interaction, not human to captive bird contact.

That strikes me as odd due to the fact that in Regenstein African Journey, there were some wild house sparrows living in the aviary with the klipsringer, guineafowl, and blue-breasted rollers.

The flu mainly spreads through migrating waterfowl species, so sparrows are not an issue.

That explains why the flamingos were indoors, there was a crazy amount of mallards at the swan pond and waterfowl lagoon.

Great news, though a very small litter! The positive is a repeat breeding recommendation will likely be given.

Lincoln Park Zoo have a truly world class exhibit. The architecture of that lion house is phenomenal. I look forward to seeing the growing pride make full use of it!

That is pretty crazy, I visited th4 day before the cub was born, and one of the females did look kind of large, though not terribly large.
