It seems that every Zoo I've been to/know of, has a Pride of just 2 or 3 adult lions, which would be considered very small in most wild populations. Are there many Zoos/Safari parks that keep larger, more extended Prides, especially ones with multiple males?
Both Knowsley Safari Park & West Midlands keep large prides of Lions with several males of differing ages, whether or not those males are all intact is another matter!
Possibly the largest pride I've seen was at Burgers' Zoo. I don't know the exact number but they have lots.
Givskud Zoo (safari park) has a very large lion exhibit and has long claimed to have "possibly the largest group of lions in Europe". There have generally been between 30 and 40 in recent years.
Burgers' Zoo currently has only 5 or 6 lions, there hasn't been any breeding for several years, but until a few years ago they always had about 10-15 lions. In the 70ies they had several groups though and the total number will have been much higher...
