Well I would say both are possible, lets hope a certain person that works at Auckland Zoo that used to work at Chester Zoo and has seen the problems of speculative and rubbish like the post they seem to post, can cause to a zoo makes a complaint about the user using the zoo`s name!

Shikira was moved in with Zion in June of last year.

Tshaka (that's the correct spelling) and Abdullah are in together. Shanti and Cleo are currently in a separate enclosure.

Gandor at this present point in time is on his own.

    Hope that helps:)

So no more cubs at Zion then? espeically since their attempt to breed tigers ended so badly.

Zion badly needs enrichment for their animals, from what I have seen there the managment dont even know what that means.

Interesting comments made as above. I also noted your comments regarding the Zion Paw Project. On that there is a separate account fully reported in the media. Trustees of of that account are Steven Barter Solicitor and Tim Husband of Zoo Works

The event with the tigers was a tragic accident. It couldn't be foreseen despite all the necessary precautions being taken. A report of this incident was furnished to MAF also reported in the media.

You state there is no enrichment for the cats a Zion. In fact yes there is. There are a number of toys for the cats at the park and these are changed daily.[IMG]

The image is of Tygo. Shumba and Zamba also have tyres in their enclosure. And no I don't work at the park but I am there a lot - so I know the routines well.

Currently there is an enrichment group working on getting some new toys for the big cats with keeping in mind that 26 of the big cats at the park are all front pad declawed.:D

I never knew there were snow leopards in New Zealand. Is it just the one at Zion or do some other institutions hold them?

No there aren't any that link should be going to the White Tiger Tygo. There are Snow Leopards in Australia but none in New Zealand.

Oh, so those were taken in Aus. So in the region there are only zoos that hold snow leopards and all of them are in Aus (Mogo, Taronga and Melbourne).

Anyway, back to Zion. How many white tigers do they have?

:) Those are actually taken at the Cat Survival Trust in the UK run by Dr Terry Moore not by me LOL. But by the members of the enrichment group who live in the area.

White tigers at present at Zion Wildlife Gardens are Tygo, Jahdu, Rewa and Shanti. The three other tigers who are all sisters have been sent to Pouakai Zoo on loan. That happened November 2009 and from what I've heard they're doing really well down there.
