Hello, I will be off for ten days to Sri Lanka end of this month and I am currently trying to update and to complete my list of zoological institutions in this country: National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka in Dehiwala National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka Gonapola Forage Farm (P?) in Horana / Gonapola Water World Lanka in Kelaniya Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage in Kegalle Millennium Elephant Foundation in Kegalle Pinnawala Open Zoo / Pinnawala Zoological Garden in Kegalle Udawalawe Elephant Orphanage/Transit Home in Udawalawe Ridiyagama Safari Park / Hambantota Safari Park in Hambantota Sri Lankan Snake Farm in Matara Sea Turtle Hatchery in Ambalangoda Aquarium project in Gampaha?! Could you help in this matter? Have you heard about any other zoological institution on the island? Have you any further information about the less known institution? Especially the Gonapola Forage Farm? Thanks a lot in advance for your help! Jonas Livet Les Zoos dans le Monde
This might interest you (from 2015 - you might be able to find a more recent version): https://www.parliament.lk/uploads/d...tment-of-national-zoological-gardens-2015.pdf It includes the Hambantota Safari Park which isn't on your list. (EDIT: Sorry, it is - I overlooked it!) It seems like the Gonapola Forage Farm might not be open to the public (there are no visitor figures etc), but the unnamed animal list is only one mammal species (with one individual), one reptile species (with one individual), and six bird species (with 150 individuals, so I'm assuming ducks, chickens, etc).
Thanks Chlidonias for your answer. I was indeed aware of this official document which is very helpful indeed. There is also one from 2010 available online: https://www.parliament.lk/uploads/d...tment_of_national_zoological_gardens_2010.pdf but I could not locate any more recent than the 2015 one! I will try to find more about the Gonapola Forage Farm and I will keep you all updated. In the meantime any further comment is very welcomed!
