Amboseli, an African Lion born at Henry Vilas Zoo four years ago, has been transferred to Little Rock Zoo. It says that Amboseli will have a pride of his own, but I do not know about the cats currently at Little Rock.

Great news, I have been waiting for for some time now. Female Andazi is a 2nd time mother, while male Johari is a first timer and now proven bull.

It seems the smaller less high profile zoos are taking over and Something I do really do applaud. It is good for the local community and staff within the zoo alike.

Catherine has been living alone. She had a stroke and the family troop is too rough to her. I would move her to a suitable group and bring a bachelor troop.

@Kifaru Bwana, the current plan is to keep the family group as is with Kivu and Sekani breeding again likely next year. I think they are looking at Adelina who is coming up on maturity as the second breeding female. Nothing definitive has been decided for Catherine. They likely need to look at a retiree group for her. They may have been considering Woodland Park before Vip died as they had already modified their exhibit to accommodate for Amanda's health issues before her death last year. Another strong contender for her might be Atlanta. They have a retiree group and are experts in caring for older gorillas with special needs. There could be other choices as well. They need to look at available space, her needs and the social group. You kinda want this move to be her last so its as easy on her as possible. It is a shame she cant be with Sekani any more. They had been together since Sekani's birth. Would have been nice if the girls could have stayed together until the end.

Lately, SSP is starting to breed their females around 10 years old, so I bet Adelina will have a baby next year.

I don't thing woodland zoo would be a good option for Catherine, Jumoke is pretty bossy. They need to find a laid back group... maybe LA or Mac's troop at Columbus.
