Last year a male Western Lowland silverback gorilla escaped from his enclosure at London zoo. Riot police and helicopters were called.
The zoo insisted publicly that it was all a 'silly fuss about nothing' and he just got into a service passage. They even made light of him drinking black current juice while he was out.
The truth is far different. He got out of the building the gorillas are housed in and into the yard. All that was between him and the public was a bamboo fence.
To top this, keepers demonstrated a lack of training by neglecting to ensure public were secured in buildings and running towards the escaped animal past crowds of visitors.

An interesting first post from someone who has only joined Zoochat today. Helicopters and riot police? I don't think so. And while it is of course possible that the "escape" was more serious than the zoo acknowledged at the time, I'm afraid I would want a rather more credible source to convince me of this fact.

....yes, of course you do. And that's why, several months on, you've taken to a zoo nerd forum to raise this "issue".

The past-tense could be accurate even now, given sooty's post:

Quite possibly the issue is that they no longer work there and have a grudge :p they certainly aren't posting from Glasgow as their profile claims, judging by their IP address.

Funny, If this were true, I'd imagine that the highly trained staff would have done for more and the zoo would have been evacuated as best as possible!

Well I would think they are considering they would be working with some of the most deadly animals on the planet!

For someone who claims to work there you seem rather desperate to attack the collection :p as @sooty mangabey said, the fact that you have joined the site purely to post unsourced claims several months after the event does not help your credibility.

Care to enlighten us as to *why* you have chosen to post this information now, and in this particular fashion?

Do you work there too? I can sense some pannick in your tone! I thought i would post this here because although to the outside world it may seem 'over' there are plenty of people working at ZSL who are still off with stress because of it.

Why not go to the media? If your claims are true....posting on a forum for zoo fans is bizarre to say the least.

So why has it not been reported months after it happened?

Please excuse me if I don't hold my breath for the media to report it then.

And do you drive to work every day or fly? Glasgow is a funny location to live when you work in London....

You seem to have trouble telling the difference between scepticism at your motives and panic.... or indeed pannick :p and no, I do not work there nor at any other zoological collection.
