It's now summer time at Longleat and the animals including Anne the Asian Elephant are doing really well despite the heat.

Does anyone know if Longleat has introduced any new species in the drive through? I heard somewhere that they built a habitat for Elk.

Can confirm they have a single female elk in a large, square paddock at the back of the large giraffe/zebra reserve. It was very open, despite them being a shy, woodland species, and she was sat at the back.

Unsure if they have any future plans for this species though.

It will be realistic to assume these southern koalas will remain separate from the other and managed koala population within the EEP / EAZA realm.

Two red panda cubs have been born to parents Rufina and Ajendra

We're so very excited to announce to birth of TWO beautiful red panda cubs here at the park! Experienced parents Rufina and Ajendra have successfully reared four other cubs in the past - including another set of twins. Rufina really takes motherhood in her stride and has been seen confidently moving the cubs from the nest boxes around the red panda exhibit. She's also been answering the calls of her babies - they sound like adorable guinea pig-like squeaks!

Old female Grants zebra Steph has been PTS after constant bullying from the rest of the herd. I think there was a deterioration on her health as well

The first episode of Animal Park this morning featured the arrival of a young Eland bull from Dvur Kralove. They went on to reveal that this was one of the first Hoofstock arrivals they'd had in two years due to being under TB restrictions. The TB was found a farm elsewhere on the estate but the Safari Park was also put into "lock down" by DEFRA

Luckily the restrictions have now been lifted.

News update from youtube Ian Turner has confirmed the three timber wolves will be put off show and a new species will be put in their habitat. My guess would be either another canine in Wild dog or Dhole or a bear species

... or it could even be those European Wolves they've had offshow for the last 18 months. :rolleyes:They're arrival was confirmed by the previous series of Animal Park.

It would make perfect sense for them to swap enclosures with the Timber Wolves.

It would but it's surprising that Ian said a new species and to the general public another wolf wouldn't really be a different species so I don't know

Didn't Longleat say not long ago they wanted to start rehoming rescue bears ? The only thing with that is that any bears would have to be used to traffic.
