Yuba from Zoo Madrid (B9/7/2011) and Suwedi from Duisburg (B9/2/2011).

Video says they plan to eventually mix them with Kesho, Alf and Evindi

How many places have hyenas in the UK ? Great news that this species is due to increase in Britain hopefully other safaris will be able to add these as well

Hamerton's eastern and southern aardwolves are members of the hyena family.

Belfast went out of Striped Hyena earlier this year. Both individuals went to separate collections in Germany

That's a shame, Nisha. The hyena is still listed on ZTL.

I've requested that they be removed from ZTL.

I agree, a real shame. That makes it 4 UK zoos getting rid of Striped Hyaena in less than 10 years !

According to ZTL, Twycross went out of Arabian striped hyenas in 2017; Colchester went out of striped hyenas in 2011, Heythrop in 2014, Africa Alive in 2015 and Belfast in 2018 (that was quick, Nisha).

    So it's 5, I didn't consider Heythrop! That's even worse and in 7 years!

Twycross moved the final Arabian with good intentions though. They originally had two sisters but they fell out and had to be seperated.

One was offered a place with a male at Jihlava. Which left the remaining sister on her own at Twycross and not doing anything. Eventually Dvur Kralove went into them and paired her up with a male too. Opportunities that Twycross couldn't or wouldn't give them
