Fantastic news from Apenheul; Gyasi is pregnant with the first infant sired by Bao Bao/Pau Pau. This was announced on the park’s website, along with the news that Gyasi’s first offspring, Tayari, is expecting an infant herself in Taipei.
I am thrilled that Bao Bao has had this important success after his introduction to the Apenheul females; will have everything crossed for a successful outcome.

A baby was born to Louna in Nurnberg a few days ago. Father Thomas. I believe she lost her first baby soon after it was born last year.

The three younger gorillas in the new Thoiry male group(see previous post) are now mixed and using their outdoor area. Silverback Wazungu has not joined with them yet.

@Pertinax has the sex of Kala's first surviving offspring been found out yet? With Bristol I suppose it doesn't really matter,as they have wrongly sexed a couple of baby Gorillas namely Namoki and Kukena. For those not familiar with Bristol Zoo these baby's were initially sexed as males but were later discovered to be female. Namoki is definitely a female as since moving to Belfast Zoo she has given birth to a baby called Olivia who was fatherd by Belfast's resident Silverback Gugus.

Bristol haven't announced it yet but I think its a male and others do too. Wrong sexing is a bad mistake as obviously for future planning you need to know the correct sex. Fortunately in Bristol's case it was male to female both times which is the beneficial way round.

Two more males to have to ultimately find bachelor groups to live in. With females everywhere wants them to add to groups, no problems rehoming.

Kala's baby has now been removed for handrasing. Mother not coping too well and a lack of milk. Confirmed as a male. Naming competition in process.

In Taipei Zoo, female called "Tayari" gave birth in 31 October. And the baby is a boy. I saw the baby in that day and took a video.
