Are there any zoos or aviaries in Indonesia that has ever kept Maleos (Macrocephalon maleo) in captivity? From what I heard they fare pretty good since they're flightless birds. I saw this pic on Jakarta Globe showing several Maleos in a cage, but I don't know where:
Ragunan Zoo, Taman Safari Prigen, and Eco Green Park currently keep this species. The maleos at Taman Safari Prigen is housed in a walkthrough aviary alongside smaller birds. Surabaya Zoo used to keep some maleos. I think TMII also keep this species, but I'm not sure. I think the maleo shown in that pic is in Ragunan Zoo, the substrate looks pretty similar.
