I had recently make a map for all Chinese zoo and (part) Aquarium.Any changes can be make. Here is the map:https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jwcurIgOTshuJhfT_Boz964arSI&usp=sharing
Interesting enough that you present zoos in blue, and aquariums in orange colour signs, contrary to common perception of association of blue with water or aquariums for purposes for marking of location. Are these all zoos in China, or there are more smaller one?
I really don't know about that. I use the Baidu list of chinese zoo but I didn't know if that is complete. For aquarium, I can't find a list so a just use wiki list.
China can and should play a major role for conservation (ex-situ and in-situ) of wild animals in Asia. It is economic giant, approaching 63% of the U.S. economy for example.
A great map, thanks for putting this together. I'm sure @baboon, @Deer Forest and @MagicYoung will have more to add. How about Shanghai natural wild insect kingdom or Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base? Are you limiting it to collections which are open to the public? For a country which has become a very big player in the aquarium industry, I'm surprised to see how few there are across the country - perhaps a greater proportion of giant oceanariums than any other. Baboon told me of a small zoo with a fantastic collection outside Chengdu; I don't have details to hand but that would be worth adding too.
Yes there are some small zoos distributed in towns outside the provincial captials, and many of them act as local wildlife rescue centers simultaneously, thus often have some rare species, though their enclosures are usually poor.
