How do you find a zoo's master plan? I've tried emailing architectual firms, they're no help. I've tried emailing the zoo grounds manager, they're no help. Is there a site/place devoted to master plans?
Seeing a Master Plan map is not so hard, but there is so much more to a Master Plan (they are usually a big book). Architecture or Landscape Architecture firms (the more likely planners) ought not to share their client's stuff... it belongs to the client. A zoo might well let you come in and look through their Master Plan, but they will not send you a copy (it is too big, too expensive to reproduce, and who the heck are you, anyway? ) But if all you want is the map picture, look at the website of any zoo. Many have it. It may be hidden under "Contribute" or "About" or some other unexpected menu on the site
I'm pretty sure that Potter Park Zoo, Sedgwick County Zoo and the Valley Zoo Edmonton all have their masterplans on-line but I don't have time to find the exact links right now.
They're site is encrypted so there's no possibility to see the fine details of individual plans, but thanks!
Really? 13 zoo masterplans in the first four search pages, plus 7 more in the first 4 image search pages is lack-luster results?
If all you want is a pretty map (as I said earlier, that is not a Masterplan as such), then besides CLR, go to the other zoo design firm's sites: The Portico Group, Torre Design, pja, Bernard Harrison, Hanson-Roberts, PGAV,
Ah! Here's a n example of a complete Master Plan! http://www.ingham.org/PK/Zoo/FINAL Potter Park Zoo MP Report. low res e-mailablepdf.pdf
Yep, I've studied this one. It's great. Just wish more zoos would have this detailed information on their site. Thanks.
Here is one of the zoos least in need of a master plan: http://www.scz.org/user/file/master_plan_book_VeryLowRes.pdf
We agree with the fact that more zoos should post more detailed masterplans.anyone know where to find a more updated masterplan for the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Team Tapir
This is the only one I could find. Not great, but then again, what would you expect from Portico! http://www.lyonszaremba.com/images/_pdfs/cmz.pdf
